All planets making aspects this week are in the early degrees of their respective signs. Apropos for the week the Sun moves into Libra, the sign of partnerships and alliances, this tight association indicates a close collaboration to create a coordinated cosmic message. As the first sign of the second half of the zodiac that focuses on individual development in relation to others, learning how to get along in a supportive, loving way is the primary lesson of Libra. To set the stage for this transition from self to other, the Sun and Mercury meet up in the Superior Conjunction at 28°Virgo on September 20. As the last of the first six signs representing the early stages of self-development, Virgo is responsible for readying the individual for the world of relating by undergoing a metamorphosis from focus on self to focus on other. The main challenge here is to learn tolerance. Accepting others who express differently leads to an all-inclusive experience that sees the essentialness of each one in the greater whole. Mercury, the planet of perception, conjoining in Virgo with the Sun, the planet of will and purpose, brings clarity in the quest to assimilate and integrate all we perceive. To consciously embrace tolerance and accept others as they are is an act of love that will strengthen the whole of existence.

Once transfigured by tolerance, Mercury and the Sun fully join the realm of others when they enter the sign of the Diplomat, on September 21 and 22respectively. The Sun at 0°Libra marks the Equinox and the effects of the aspects in play now set the tone for the coming three months. Synchronistically, this week also marks the annual opening of the United Nations General Assembly. As a collective body, the UN represents humanity’s willingness to include and integrate each member nation, to provide a forum to discuss issues related to the whole of humanity, and come to global agreements on all manner of issues of mutual concern. These are hallmarks of Libra that form a good a model for maintaining balance and fairness in all types of relationships. In close conjunction with the Sun all week, the faster moving Mercury moves into a square with Saturn in Capricorn and trine to Mars in Aquarius, the sign of the Humanitarian, on September 23 that may correspond to greater focus and discipline on how some of the world’s diplomats will get their message out about the need to get along. It could also correspond to a youthful movement to win over any resistors with an energetic and passionate message.

The annual Full Moon on September 24 highlights the archetypes of the individual and the collective as well as the challenge to integrate the needs of both. As the culminating phase of the current lunar cycle that called us to a new ‘Way of Being,’ the Full Moon in Aries opposite the Sun in Libra brings the fire of inspiration to the will of cooperation. Full Moons can also bring our deeper, clearer feelings to conscious awareness, which is a great motivator to act from our inner truth. Feeling naturally free to spontaneously express its individuality, the Aries Moon must adapt its sometimes recklessly behavior in order to preserve its pioneering creations. In order to thrive, others need the gifts and talents of the individual just as much as the individual needs the love, compassion and support it receives from others. With no planets in fire signs until Mercury enters Sagittarius on October 30, we’ll need to harness the fiery nature of this Full Moon to fuel our motivations through then.

A significant aspect in the Equinox chart is the third and final square of the summer between Mars in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus, exact on September 18. This aspect represents a call to action that may reverberate over then next few months and beyond because of its association with Uranus’ entrance into Taurus, the sign of the Environmentalist. With the increasing number of catastrophic wild fires and hurricanes around the globe, this is no less than a call to save humanity from its self-involved ways. According to the UN, the world has experienced a 3 times increase in natural disasters and a resulting 5 times increase in economic loses. In 2016 alone, more than 24 million people in 118 countries were displaced by natural disasters; 3 times more than those displaced by conflict. Calling this a pivotal time for climate action, the UN intends to focus this year’s General Assembly on global leadership and shared responsibility for creating sustainable societies. After 3 passes of the Mars/Uranus square since last May, we should now have a personal awareness of the need for a revolution in how we assert ourselves. For consciousness seekers, this is a call to be aware of how our choices today dramatically affect our future. May we collectively chose to radically change course and set a trajectory for Unity.

“That which is Below corresponds to that which is Above, and that which is Above corresponds to that which is Below, to accomplish the miracle of the One Thing.”
